LaterPin

LaterPin keeps reminder content private and offline. This policy explains what stays on the device, when Google Play is contacted, and the controls available to users.

Summary

LaterPin is designed to keep reminder content private and offline. No account is required. The app does not contain analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, social-login, or cloud-service SDKs. Optional lifetime Pro access uses Google Play Billing. LaterPin does not collect or transmit reminder content or usage data to the developer and does not sell, rent, or share it.

Information stored on the device

LaterPin stores the information a user chooses to provide, including:

  • reminder titles, text or HTTP/HTTPS links, and user-created tag labels;
  • reminder, creation, completion, and notification times;
  • reminder status, such as active, completed, or dismissed;
  • language, theme, morning/evening preset times, custom preset labels and delays, and related app preferences; and
  • a cached Pro-access flag and, in development builds only, the selected entitlement test mode.

Reminder data is stored in the app's private Room database. Preferences are stored with Android DataStore. This data is used only to provide the reminder features requested by the user.

Information collection and sharing

LaterPin does not require an account and does not collect personal information on a developer-controlled server. It does not transmit reminder content, usage data, device identifiers, diagnostics, or advertising identifiers to the developer. It does not sell or share data.

Content enters LaterPin only when the user types it or deliberately sends it through Android's Share function. LaterPin does not read WhatsApp, notifications from other apps, browsing history, messages, contacts, or files automatically.

Network access and external apps

LaterPin does not download reminder content, webpages, or remote previews. The Google Play Billing library contributes Internet and network-state access only for optional Pro product, purchase, acknowledgement, and restore operations. When a user chooses Open for an HTTP/HTTPS link, LaterPin sends an ACTION_VIEW request to an external browser or compatible app. When a user chooses Share, Android's system share interface sends content only to the app the user selects. Those external apps operate under their own privacy policies and may use a network connection independently of LaterPin.

Google Play purchases

If the user opens the Pro purchase or restore flow, LaterPin communicates with the Google Play Billing service to request localized product information and the state of the non-consumable laterpin_pro_lifetime purchase. Google Play handles payment details directly under Google's terms. LaterPin does not receive credit-card or other payment-account details and does not send purchase records to a LaterPin-operated server. The app processes the product identifier, purchase state, acknowledgement state, and purchase token locally only as required to grant, restore, and acknowledge Pro access.

A pending purchase does not grant Pro access. A confirmed purchase is cached locally so temporary verification failures do not disable existing Pro reminders. A confirmed refund or revocation removes future Pro access without deleting reminder data.

Android permissions and special access

LaterPin requests or declares only the access needed for reminders:

  • Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): used only to display user-created reminders on Android 13 and newer. Denying this permission does not delete reminders; it prevents notification delivery until the user enables it.
  • Boot completed (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): used to restore active reminder schedules after a device restart.
  • Precise alarms (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM): used only for times selected by the user. Precise timing is optional. If special access is unavailable or denied, LaterPin falls back to policy-safe inexact scheduling.
  • Google Play Billing: com.android.vending.BILLING, INTERNET, and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE are used only to load the optional Pro product, launch or restore a purchase, verify its current state, and acknowledge it.

LaterPin does not request USE_EXACT_ALARM, broad package visibility, contacts, storage, location, camera, microphone, or accessibility-service access.

Notifications and lock-screen visibility

Reminder titles and previews may appear in Android notifications. Their visibility on the lock screen is controlled by the user's Android notification and privacy settings. Users should choose an appropriate lock-screen visibility setting for sensitive reminder content.

Android backup and device transfer

The app permits Android's standard backup and device-transfer mechanisms to include the local reminder database and settings. Depending on the user's device, account, and Android backup settings, the operating system may copy this app data to the user's Android backup service or a new device. This process is controlled by Android and the user's backup provider, not by a LaterPin server.

Uninstalling LaterPin removes its local app data from the device, subject to Android retaining or later restoring a backup. Users can manage backup behavior in Android system settings.

Data retention and deletion

Active reminders remain until the user completes or deletes them. Completed and dismissed reminders remain in History until the user deletes individual items or clears History. Users can delete all app data through Android system settings or by uninstalling the app, subject to the backup behavior described above.

Because LaterPin does not operate an account or developer-controlled server, there is no remote profile or server record to delete.

Security

Data is kept in Android's app-private storage and is protected by Android's application sandbox and the device's security controls. No storage method can guarantee absolute security; users should protect their device with an appropriate screen lock and keep Android up to date.

Children's privacy

LaterPin is a general productivity tool and is not designed to collect information from children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from any user.

Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices change, the publisher will update this policy and its effective date before distributing a version with materially different practices.
